Arrow 5.4 3-OD Hard Shifting maybe normal on Fords?

Hello Guys,
This problem I am experiencing may be normal from what I hear but wanted to get a second opinion. I have a 2001 f150 5.4 litre, when driving shifting is normal but from time to time when tranny shifts from 3 gear into OD I think thats how it works I feel the tranny shifting different especially going uphill. It does not do it all the time but I also notice it does it more often when I slightly let of the gas and step on it again. If I take off and not let go of gas everything is good. A couple friends told me fords are known for that but I am not sure. I changed out the fluid and filter and is still doing it. Please post comments I hope its OK I have 76,000 miles on it. Maybe is not the tranny but who knows. When it shifts it seems to make a slight noise.
Thanks

Nothing really seems odd, mine shifts at different times too going up hill, or with a load etc. Heavy clunkin' shifts shouldn't happen. The tranny should shift softly (boring) for the general public that want smooth and quiet everything. But also, I guess the tranny shift patterns are learned based on how you drive. I notice mine is jumpy and downright hot roddish after lots of city driving, but if I cruise for a while and go to light em up, it's lazy and confused. They are designed for it I guess. Get a chip for the computer to firm up shifts, then you'll feel positive shifting and more hp's!
