slipping

My son just bought a 1993 F150 with the AOD trans. When in OD it slips but when it is in just D it acts fine. Any ideas besides to just drive it in D. Mileage is 97000 and we dropped the pan today and all looked ok. Put in a new filter and 5 qts. of fluid and it's still the same. He drove it 40 miles home Saturday when he bought it without it acting up. Just started doing this last night.

Thats how my brothers started. It is probably the OD band slipping. As a band aid, you might try a bottle of lucas transmission treatment. I have seen that stuff do some amazing things. Otherwise it is probably going to be a rebuild.

Tried the Lucas additive with no luck. Dropped it off today for a rebuild. I will have to put in some overtime for this bill. My son is learning valuable lessons though.
