OD light flashing

My OD light started flashing last week, have since put about 500 miles on truck. Seems to work fine. When shut off and restarted, sometimed it comes on, other times it doesn't. Any ideas??

Did you recently change the transmission fluid?

I had a intermittent flashing OD light problem.
Turned out to be a bad sensor.

When my sensor went out and the OD flashed, the trans would not shift out of second gear.

Very frustrating, driving home at 30 mph and 5,000 RPM.
Next day, no problem.

Differnt sensors do different things.
Perhaps your fault is not so critical but, you should still get it diagnosed.

Rutherk1:

Haven't done a thing, as far as fluids go. But I did have a leak that went away, from the rear seal @ tailshaft, in front of rear driveshaft front u-joint. And yes, I did check fluid levels to make sure the leak didn't stop 'cause it was run out of fluid!!!

Flashing OD light means a trouble code stored in the computer relating to the tranny.

Mine is having the same problem. I cant stay in overdrive, and when the OD light starts blinking the trans goes crazy. After awhile the OD light will quit blinking and the trans will be OK until I get to about 50 mph and then it wants to search between 3rd and OD. What did they tell you? I thought it might have been a prob w/ my shift kit.

1999 f 150 supercab 4x4 48,000 miles,, started blinking last week on wed and thur,, dropped it off at Dealership on Fri,, bad accumulator pistons, 1-2 and 2-3,, Im pretty sure if your light is blinking,, it could be anything, its just storing a code of the problem.. def would get it checked out,, could save you from a more costly repair later
