Can a 4R70W be swapped out for a AODE?

Hi, I have a 1995 Ford F150 XLT, it has a 5.0, and a 4R70W.
The transmission has crapped out on me. the O/D light flashes, it shakes, and leaks fluid like mad out of the tailshaft housing. I am going to replace the trans, or have it rebuilt. It occured to me that mated up to my 5.0 HO engine in my garage, is a AOD out of a 1988 Lincoln Mark Vii LSC. I got the motor last week for my 1965 mustang, and the mustang currently has a T-5 mated to its 289. I was about to post the AODE for sale when it occured to me that I could run this tranny in my truck. My question is i have spent NO time researching this and know I could make it work, but is this a bad idea? What issues would i run into? is the tranny just too weak to even consider using? Any info will help. I imagine im going to go with plan A and replace/rebuild the 4R70W, but I thought before i scrapped the AOD, id see if it could be usefull. - I understand that im taking a step back with technoligy, but is there any big downfall of going from the Electronic shift to the vaccum shift? Thanks
-Jacob

First, the PCM is expecting to communicate with an AODE/4r70w that is not there. Codes right away.
Second, you will need a TV cable or linkage to operate the trans pump pressure vs throttle opening. Extremely important.
Third, the mounting won't be quite the same at the cross member.
Forth, drive shaft length.
Not worth the work and issues IMO.
Replace the 4R70W and be done with it.

IIRC, AOD-E uses the OSS to run the speedometer, the 4R70W uses the TSS, or vice versa, so you might not have a working speedometer after all this either. Find another 4R70W before you cause yourself more troubles than you wanted.

Not true at all. The aod/e is a 4r70w with the same gear ratios as a aod. There are other subtle differences, but that is the biggest.

Might be different years of the 4R70W doing that then. My mistake.

My limited experience with the AOD would suggest that you really don't want to do that to your self.
