01 exped flashing overdrive light

I have owned a 01 f150 for a few years now, and have had no problems. so when my wife wanted to get rid of her windstar, we got a 01 expedition, figured it was pretty much based on the f150. we picked it up on thursday. today, we started having a problem with it, starting out it seems like the emergency brake is on, no acceleration at all, until it shifts gears. then driving seems normal, except rpm's seem to be slightly higher that normal, about 2200 rpm's at 70mph. and not the overdrive off light is flashing. needless to say i am taking it back to the dealer monday morning. but i bought it from a toyota dealer, not sure how experianced they may be with ford. my question, and ideas i should mention to the dealer that could cause the problem and they should check? almost seems like a clutch problem to me?

The computer will have a code(s) stored in memory if the OD light has been flashing, which will aid in the diagnosis. If it feels like the brakes are on you most likely have a bind-up situation inside the transmission. In 2001 the 5.4L Expedition came equipped with the 4R100 transmission, and the 4R70W trans was used behind the 4.6L engine. There was a recall (expired) on the 2001 4R100 transmissions due to a defective intermediate mechanical diode. Some vehicles slipped through the cracks and didn't get the transmission replaced under the recall.
