hi guys - i got a wierd problem
'93 f-150 4x4 1/2 ton truck- 90,000 miles- well all had been fine -untill i was yanking some shrubs out of the ground a month ago -when the work was done- i headed down the road and the tranny(automatic) wouldnt shift out of the low gear, it wasnt untill 5 miles,or about 10 minutes that it started to shift (hard) into the higher gears. - but i also noticed when the truck got warmed up enough to shift the forward gears it would slip really bad in the reverse gear ?- I changed fluid and filter (but i didnt drain the converter)- but the fluid didnt look or smell burnt..... well it didnt help.
then a week went by, and out of the blue it started shifting smoothly again,,then about 2weeks later it wouldnt shift out of low again. now this week it back to shifting smoothly in forward. but here is the wierd thing ,when the truck is cold ,reverse works great, but when its warmed up- reverse slips a lot, or when on an incline it wont pull at all- untill it cools off.
so in a nutshell i went for a couple weeks like this :
cold truck, reverse worked great, but forward gears wouldnt shift out of low..
hot truck, reverse slips bad, but forward gears worked fine.
what do u think ??
(besides sell it)
thanks guys !!!
