transmission question

Hello everyone.

I have a 1996 f150 with a 4.9 six and 5 speed manual trans. My problem is that it is hard to shift into 1st or 2nd gear. I have to jam it in there. The clutch engages and disengages fine. I have checked the fluid level. It is good. I have had the slave and master cylinder replaced. What could be my problem. (Other than a simple lack of mechanical knowledge)

Thanks for any help.

by the way, I don't have a lot of computer knowledge either. I messed up and put this question in a couple of places that it shouldn't have been posted. I apologize for that.

Sounds like there may be something wrong with the 1st/2nd gear collar.
