Right price?

Just took my truck to a shop for an estimate. The owner of the (immaculately clean) shop saw that the trans was leaking from the front and said the pump was shot and recommended a rebuilt trans. I took it in because of a rattling noise which I described in my thread "Drivetrain noise". He quoted me $1700 to install a rebuilt 4R70W and a TC that is made or modified locally.

The TC features he claims are:
The fins/blades are welded in (look brazed to me).
Hardened spline.
All metal, no plastic.
Balanced.
Carbon fiber clutch.

Does this sound OK or a bill of goods? Keep in mind this is South Florida.
Tom
