transmission cooler?

where can i get a good, reliable transmission cooler to keep mine cooler than whatever unit may be there from the factory? i'm going to be towing with mine a bit and i'd like the extra insurance of having a cooler installed (i've heard they can get very hot when towing). i have a 4R70W transmission on a 5.4L engine, 4 wheel drive how much can i expect to pay and how hard is installation?

Well coolers can be easiely gotten in alot of places. Depending on size they range in price from $50- $150 not counting misc fittings and hoses.
My only advice is to get plate style, they work the best.

Bulkpart.com has real good deals on them, thats where I get them. You just have to know what you are looking for. Avoid tube and fin coolers and you will do fine.

We have one that's a good unit. It's not the cheapest ($165) but it does come with all the fittings you need (no hose clamps, real fittings to tie into your factory cooler) and braided stainless steel lines etc...

Tim at Chickenears (supporting vendor here) carries them.

Hi.

Not knocking Mr. Evan's products, but I prefer the Troyer unit. It's a Derale cooler, I believe.

Anyway - it's an 'active' cooler - c/w thermostatically controlled electric fan, hoses and fittings.

For the extra $35, well worth it, IMHO.

Mike Troyer said once that only a small fraction of what they offer ( both products and services) is on their web site. You can get just about any quality product from them.
