Clutch Reservoir fluid fill

I have a 95 XLT 4x2 and I am having some difficulty shifting similar to some others posted here on the boards. So, I am going to bleed my clutch and change my transmission fluid to see if I get any improvement before going to a shop to have the master and/or slave cyl. examined.

My question is, I checked the fluid level in the reservoir and when I pulled the cap off there was a sort-of bladder stuck to it, then it popped loose from the cap. Do I place this bladder in the reservoir and fill into the bladder, or am I to fill to a certain level in the reservoir and the place the badder in it.

Bleeding the clutch sounds easy enough, just want to make sure I get the fluid level right on top.

Thanks,
Matt

Send a message via ICQ to JMC
Pull it out and then fill the resevoir. Don't forget to leave room for the bladder when filling it up.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if that bladder was porous and acted as a filter or if was more of a pressure regulating device, or none of the above. Thanks again.

It is a diaphram that keeps dirty air out of the fluid. The cap has a small vent hole to not vacuum lock. Without this diaphram, when you depress the clutch it would suck in dirty air into your fluid.

No worries.....
