I have a 2004 F150 4x4 with towing package. And I'm towing a 20' Bullet bass boat with a 250 mercury motor and tandem axle trailer. There are no hills around my area. Do you think I can tow this boat with OD on without harming my tranny?

After all I've been reading about O/D problems due to towing, I'll be leaving my O/D off during that operation, even with an aux cooler. My truck went out of warranty not too long ago, and I'm going to get the tranny fluid changed very soon. I got a flyer in the mail from my local Ford dealer not too long ago for an automatic tranny service for $49.95, including up to five quarts of fluid. I figure that's not a bad price even though I will have to pay for the additional fluid.

If the tranny isn't "hunting" between 3 and 4, you should be fine. For absolute assurance get a tranny temp gauge and then you can pull to your hearts content as long as the temps stay under a redline.

That would be 125F - 180F optimal!
