4R70W trans swap question

Can anyone tell me how I can find out which years will fit my truck in a plug and play fashion? I've got a '99 F150 Long-bed 2WD w/ the 4R70W. What other years for that trans will work?

How about using a trans out of a 4WD into my truck, is there a difference between the two?

Thanks in advance.

i dont think a 4X4 tranny will work for the simple reason of the transfer case is bolted to the tranny and the tailshaft is completly diffrent...any others?...zap!

Does that mean that all of the 2WD trannys have the same length tailshafts? In other words, if I buy a 2WD, shortcab/reg bed truck transmission, will it fit in my shortcab/long bed truck?
