ring & pinion

just purchased a 1997 f150 supercab with a 4.6l engine. It also has a 3" body lift with 35, 12.5, 17" tires and wheels. Unfortunately gears were never changed. The vehicle currently has 3.55 gears. Ineed help, what gears should I go with?

differentials

Thanks Bigtruck,
Can you help decipher what differentials I have so I can order the new gears. The tag that should be attached to the rear is missing about half of it. The front diff has an 8.8 stamped on the case, I am assuming 8.8 inch. The door tag gives me a code 19 which I believe tells me the current gear set up is 3.55 and I am taking your advice and want to go with the 4.56's to get some power back. Also the front and rear differentials should be identicle correct? so I will have to order 2 of the same?

yes you will need to put the same ring and pinoin gears in both front and back, with the 4.6L engine you have the 8.8 rear end, you will need to order a ring and pinoin for a 8.8 reverse cut IFS for the front and a standerd cut 8.8 straight axle RP for the back, good luck
