Transmission Temp Guage

I have an '04 Scab, 4X4, 5.4 with the tow package. I plan to pull my tent trailer with it that weighs somwhere around 2K with all the stuff I think I have to have in it. While I do not anticipate any problems I would like to install a transmission temp guage for peace of mind.

Recommendations and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Terry

What trans do you have? Most ford trans have two or three plugs that just look like bolts on the passenger side of the trans. Just take one of the plugs out and put the temp sensor in that hole. Make sure not to use any teflon tape as it might damage the trans. Doing it this way saves drilling and tapping a hole in the pan.

The third way is to istall a manifold block in the outlet cooler line (at the transmission) to the radiator.
This looks at the fluid coming out of the transmission at it's highest temperature (fluid only).
The pan method is looking at the fluid long after it come out of the transmission and back to the pan.
Looking at it thru a pressure port is also looking at the transmission case temperature which is influenced a lot by the engine block heat conduction.
A tent camper and a box with camping gear is not a big load for your truck.
