Differential lock? Snow driving

I do not have a function mean to lock differential for 2 wheel spin abilities on snow. Is there another easy mechanical way to do it?

Sometimes, if you can apply the parking brake while a single wheel is spinning, it can "fool" the diff to send some power to the other wheel......

Good luck!

What Mitch is refered to is called "Manual Break Modulation"

I'd advice against using the parking break to do it though. It's too easy to forget and leave it on.

The procedure is simple enough. You just apply light preasure to the break peddle. Just enought to stop the 1 wheel from spinning. This should get both wheels to drive togeather.

Believe it or not. The Hummvee or HMMWV (Highly Mobil Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) as the service calls it, doesn't have locking or limited slip diffs.

Break Modulation is part of driver training in the Army.

Yes the MOS covers much more than the Bradley.

As a a matter of fact the only times I worked on Bradleys was when I was at schools and the period when I was assigned to the Combat Systems Test Activity at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.

I spent most of my time working M901 ITVs, M981 FISTVs, M578 Lt Recovery Veh, M88 Med Recovery Veh and the MLRS Self Propelled Loader Launcher. In addition to what you had mentioned.

Though now I don't do any of that. After leaving Active duty in '96 I went in the Guard and in '02 had to reclass, do to a reorg, as a 11B Infantry.

Now I'm waiting for the call up for my turn in the sand.

Just guessing. I suspect the reason there are no posi-traction or lockers in the Humvee is reliability.

Personally, I wouldn't have bought my 2000Scab4x4 if it did not have the trac lok rear. It makes a bid difference.
