Recomendations on new gear size

I have a 4.6 with 3.55 gears. I am planning on putting 285/70/17's on the truck. Do I need to change gear sizes and if so what should I go with. Thanks.

Hello bonefish,

The 4.10's are the ones you want. Upgrading to 3.73 will not make much difference and 4.56 gears would only be recommended if you do a lot of towing or off-roading and don't mind sacrificing gas milage for off the line pulling power.

Aside from the blower, 4.10s are the best
(and most noticeable) change I made to my Expy.

I wouldn't worry about it if you're just going with 285's, unless you think it's worth 1200-1500 bucks to regain a SLIGHT power or fuel mileage loss. It could be regained alot cheaper with intake, exhaust, and computer mods IMO.
