Screech

Sorry to be posting so many lame questions. My transmission makes a loud screeching sound when it hits the 2-3 shift under WOT. Is this normal?

Are you sure it's not the drive belt slipping at high rpm?

I have a 99 with the 4R70W and was experiencing the same problem. I figured it the tranny was starting to wear out (~ 180K miles), but took it into the shop for a second opinion. The transmission technician said that the belt and the clutch packs were pretty much worn out and the tranny needed to be replaced or rebuilt. Hopefully, yours is not the same problem since your truck is 3 years newer than mine and probably doesn't have anywhere near as much mileage on it.

Thanks for your help guys, I hope it is only the drive belt. I was a little worried because my truck only has 9 thousand miles on it and it was screeching at me!
