F150 98' 5 speed slave cylinder fluid leakage?

Hello. My 98' Ford 5 speed manual, with 213,000 mi. on it (new tranny put in at 90,000) is having some shifting into gear problems - I suspect it is the slave cylinder as the brake fluid reservoir is constantly empty. Is it the slave cylinder that is leaking or are the lines from reservoir to cylinder the culprits? Is there a method to figure out what the exact problem is and what is the cure - could the lines be replaced and/or what is the procedure to replace slave cylinder? Due to budget constraints I'd much rather fix problem myself then take truck to the shop. Maybe a dumb question but where exactly is the slave cyl. located? Thanks in advance

On most of the Ford F150's with manuals, the slave is inside the bell housing. This means you gotta drop the tranny to get to it. It's not overly complicated, just the master cylinder, a line and the slave cylinder. The slave bleeder valve is accessable on the side of the bell housing so it's just a matter of dropping the tranny in order to get to it.

good luck with it.
