Hurst Shifter

Iam new to your site and i have been following the saga of a shifter for our five speed 97 s. Ihave a flareside 4x4 and i would like nothin better than to change the lousy origional out. I have sent a email to Troyer Perf to see if this new part number will fit on the 4 x4 tranny.Does anyone know if the 2by and 4by use the same 5-speed box? any info will be greately appreciated.

Thanx
Steve

I believe the number for the Hurst shifter that would fit your '97 is 391-5025. Have you checked out the www.mrgasket.com site for information? They have an "ask the tech" section where you can submit a question and it's usually answered in about a day.

I don't actually have a definitive answer to your question. I seem to remember hearing that there was an issue with the body to frame height on the 4X4. I have the 5025 on my '98 4X2 and I really like it. It's definitley better than the stock set up.

Good luck, and welcome!

The cases are the same just the tail ends are different. The 4x4 uses an adapter for the transfer case while the 4x2 has an extension housing for the slip yoke to fit on.
