Question 01 Tranny whistle through dash, changes with engine speed

Anyone have this? Know of a fix?

2001 F150, 4.6L, 4x4 It just started making a high pitched whistle sound, changes pitch as you speed up, low to high, cuts out when you shift and starts back up again. It's not the radio, alternator whine, similar though.

The sound comes from the dashboard, probably up from the torque convertor area. Any ideas?

Seems to run okay, shift okay, for now. Just worried about hearing "yeah, mine started doing the same thing til the tranny went out"

Mine started making a whine like you describe. Have you found any further information?

More information.....

The only thing I've heard from guys here at work they are thinking the torque convertor or front trans pump. First thought is change the fluid and filter though. Looking for others comments on who's had this problem and fixed it.

Mkerner98, I took you advice with one modification. I ran a can of sea-foam trans-tune in it for a day or two prior to fluid and filter change. No more noise! Thanks.

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply on changing out the fluid and the foam. I'll have to do that myself.
