transmission o/d light flashing

I own a 99 f150 supercab 4X4 my o/d light is blinking on my shifter i plugged it in on my otc 4000 scan tool and i have a code # P0781 1 to 2 Shift Error. does any one no what causes this and how to fix the problem

It's hard to say what the problem is without taking the trans apart. It could be lots of things.

mine did that today.....03 heritage..scared crap out of me at first but then i calmed down and thought about it.....grabed the shifter and push it up a bit and it clicked...shut my truck off...started it back and viola light had quit flashing.....I would say that you may be in between gears as i was.....hope thats all it is anyway

My daughters 1999 F150 ext. cab did this, after the Ford place had it 3 times and several hundreds of dollors for various things and the od light would still come on and shifting was beginning to hang , they wanted to replace all the seals (estimate of 800 dollars including labor), we took it to a transmission man, he changed out the servo and a pinch seal and it has been great. (total of $125)
