I recently purchased a 1999 Ford F-150 Lariat X Cab 4X4 with a 4" lift. The truck is in great shape and has 77,000 miles on it. It has an automatic transmission. At just over 1000 miles after I purchased it, the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" indicator light came on and stayed on. At about the same time, the "AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT" began flashing on the steering column shift lever and has stayed flashing ever since. Any ideas as to what the problem is? It drives fine, but sometimes it seems to shift kind of ****y, not bad, but noticeable.
