clanking noise from front end

01 S'crew, i am having problems with a clanking noise off the line and sometimes when coming to a stop. the noise is not present in reverse or revving in park or nuetral. also sometimes when resuming gas after coasting the noise will show up but not as exaggerated.

any ideas?

Sounds like triple plate converter rattle. I guess you have a 4r100 transmission?

i am not sure what type of trans i have, someone suggested turning OD off but that didn't help, not sure why it would've in the first place.
do you know the fix if it is the converter? maybe just something to be tightened?

64,000 miles, and no, there is no teenager. i have to admit i do gun it a little too much to classify myself as a grandma driver. but i doubt i drive it hard enough to call it abuse.

Replacing the converter is the only fix for this. IT will get bad and either have problems where it doesn't lock or doesn't unlock.
The world argues about the triple plate converter and how great they are. I personally find a well built dual spring single plate converter in a good transmission will last longer and work better than a triple plate.
