Question what Gear Am I In?

Have you guys ever had your gear shifter off by one (i.e, Reverse=Park, Natural=Reverse, Drive=Natural, Drive 2=Drive, etc). Actually, the gears shift closer to half way between one gear and the other. What do you suppose is going on with this?

Thanks in advance.

dirtyd0g,

Thanks for the reply. I did not mention that the "check engine" light stays on. I assumed it was just an adjustment problem with the needle being off or something minor like that at first, but I am still not sure with the check engine light on. I have had zero problems with my truck and this is the first time in 94K miles that the check engine light has come on and stays on.

That truck should flash the OD light when it has transmission problems.

Treat the symptoms separately.

Go have your codes read, do a SEARCH on the codes, and ask any questions to provide details not encountered in previous posts.
