Question Do I have a problem

I am not use to these new eltronic stuff!! And not sure if I have a problem at all??
In all my other Overdrive trannys all I did was put the shifter in D or OD. The tranny would work the same no matter except it would not go in to 4th gear.

Now I have a 1998 F150 XLT 4X4 I put into OFF over drive to tow my boat. But it acts totaly different then when the over drive is on.

It revs up much more before shifting to the next gear?? Is this normal?? I would say 1st to 2nd is at about 25mph or better and 2nd to 3rd is 35 mph or better

Just want to make sure there is not a problem

Thanks

Joe, your taking the transmission 'lock up' off when the button is in inhibit.
This means the converter will slip more thru the gears.
Lock up actually works in 2nd, 3rd and OD.
That is the difference your seeing.
The old AODs does not work quite that way.
There are other implications to this that I don't see being disccused on the board.
They involve brake pad life, fuel milage etc. due to the way the trans operation is designed to work.
Might seem unrelated but tis true.
I have had AOD since 85 in two vehicles, A4LD in two trucks and now 4R70W and can tell what the differences are.
It's a whole seperate subject.

Thanks!! I was just wondering if I was having some kind of problem. Because it shifts so much different when the OD is off.
This is the newest thing I have ever owned and I am wondering if I made a mistake?? I am use to doing all my own work and them days are gone with all this computer stuff!

But I will my best to keep up with this Board and my learnings!!

Thanks again!!
