01 screw with 4.6. I called Autozone to see if thay have a tranny filter and they asked if it was deep or shallow pan? I asked if they where two different part numbers and they said yes? How do you tell what pan you have?

i went to auto zone the first time i changed my tranny fluid and my friend that worked there gave me a filter for it and it was huge. i pulled the pan off and there was a much smaller filter on it about 6 inches by 8 or so.so you should be able to tell if you can pull the filter then go up there.i got mine at the dealer and it wasn't but a couple bucks more and then you know with a LITTLE more certainty its the right one

Look at your dipstick. If it says use Mercon V tranny fluid, you have the 4R70W transmission. Tell them that is the transmission and they should know the right one.

I went to Advance and got the wrong one the first time.

The 96-98 Mark VIII Lincoln uses the same filter. Have them compare part #'s.
