OD will not engage, HELP

Hey all,
I have a '02 F150 4.6L 4R70W transmission, and since last week my overdrive will not engage when I press the off button on the column shifter. Any reasons this may be? I am thinking electrical shortage, but last week I was driving in a bad rainstorm as well. There were some parts where my transmission may have even been partially submerged in water. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

I'm sure I'm misreading your post, but when press the OD button, you are turning it off so it won't ever engage......

If the light is off, then it 'should' go into OD when appropriate.

Since you mention that the trans probably got submerged, then it could be the electronics got wet. There should be a wiring harness near the shift linkage and a connector. Check it out and if the connector is wet inside, that's probably the problem.

Is the OD light blinking?? That would indicate a problem and should throw a code to the computer that you can have scanned and it'll tell you exactly what the problem is.

Good luck!
