M5OD trans swap.....VSS problems

Howdy Everybody,

I broke the tranny in my truck. have a '97 f-150 w/ a 4.2 V-6 and a M5OD tranny. I replaced the tranny w/ a 2001 model M5OD. The problem is that the VVS is different. The '97 uses a gear setup like the old speedometer type, but the new one uses a magnetic pick-up. With the 2001 VSS the speedo reads about 3X's the actual speed and hits the speed limiter real quick.

Here's the deal......Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Maybe an adapter, or a conversion kit, or whatever.

Thanks for the help.

Paul
