Red face F150 in for a Toyota - EEKS

Eeeks, I am actually considering a Japanese Truck (built in USA by Americans though)

My 2001 F150 has been a great truck but Ford Service is the pits.

Took it in 3 times for seat jolting transmission clunk and they can not fix it. And always the dealer says
"It is your slip yoke" without even looking at the truck.
Then they say its normal and should be no concern.

Also I has oil all around my rear axel and the dealer says "I can not find a leak"
Well jeeze, its not being created from thin air.

I was looking at the Toyota Tundra's and they look real well made with nice options.

I know this is sacrilege to talk about a Toyota on this board, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has been
frustrated with Ford and have considered another make.

I have had 3 new Camrys since 1993 and have had no trouble with any. Just change the oil and rotate the tires. I like my Super Crew and have had no problems, but the confidence factor is a little higher with Toyota. I know that is not a popular answer on this site but thats just my 2 cents. I like the size of my Screw and the features a little better than the Toyota. If you do go with the Toyota you should know they are going with a bigger engine next year. A 5.4 with 4 valves per cylinder. Good Luck.

Sat in some Toyota's today. Sequia, etc. Well they are made very very well, but they do not have the styling or feel of American stuff.

The seats are way to down on the floor. I am 6-8' and it felt like I was in a car.

I am overall happy with my truck and I guess my only option is to get a ESP Warranty and bring the truck into Ford only when the rear axle is laying on the street, since they don't fix leaks.

Are you dealing with Earnhardt's?

Lars, I see you live in Chandler...what PHX area dealership are you going to for service? IMO the Earnhardt's do not run a customer service based operation, they are the largest dealership on the planet and as a result they could care less if you aren't happy...they can rip somebody else off with half of the effort it would take to help you.
It would be a trek but Sanderson's in Glendale might provide you with the warranty service you desire.

But it's still an import truck, no matter how you slice and dice it. Plus, all profits go overseas.

I support American Companies 100% unless they try to rip me off like Ford is doing.
Just got off the phone with Ford corporate and they said they will not fix the rear axle leak unless
it is dripping on the ground. I do not think it can leak on the ground cause the damm things empty.

And for the loud clunk that jars my passengers with the tranny down-shifts. Well Ford Corporate said that is normal.

I can see why people are buys over seas cars, even though 90% are made by Americans in the USA. It because
those companies treat consumers as humans and not rip them off like FORD!

Sorry to hear that. Where I am at, the service department at the local Toyota dealership is terrible. A lot of people drive over an hour away to get their cars serviced.

The salesmen at the lot act like the Toyota is gods gift to transportation. The salesperson actually told me that the F150 is a "throwaway truck". You just buy one every few years because at that time everything is broken and you just have to throw them away . I just said "whatever" and drove to the Ford dealership and bought a truck. Well, it is 6 years old now and I have not had one problem.
