Stock Tranny Cooler Question

Stock Tranny Cooler Question
Hey Guys, I have a 2002 Supercrew w/4.6L and I was looking at possible locations for a tranny cooler yesterday, and I noticed that I have a stock tranny cooler already installed in front of my radiator. Although it is small, prolly 12"X18", it is functional. I was just wondering if this cooler is enough to keep the fluid down while towing a 4000K lb. boat. I would imagine that it has to help, Just how much is the question?

Factory tranny cooler will be on the pass side up front if you have one.
12"x18" is pretty big for a factory unit?? Could it be an aftermarket "tube and fin" style cooler??
I've got the factory cooler and it's only like 6"x12", but it's a "stacked plate" style.
I have no problems with tranny temp towing a #4500 travel trailer, so I'm also fighting the wind as well.
You should have no problems with a #4000 boat. Just make sure you don't let the torque converter run "unlocked" for long periods of time. That's when you'll generate the most heat.
Good luck!
