Hard shift from 2nd to 3rd

I have a 00 F150 2wd with the 4R70W and original tranny fluid. Fluid is still reddish to maroon, no foreign material, and no funky smell. I have never pulled anything and never hauled anything over 500lbs.

Yesterday I noticed a hard shift from 2nd to 3rd. All other shifts are perfect. I have no flashing O/D light, no CEL's, and no tranny codes. The harder I push it, the harder it hits. I do drive it hard from time to time and I have only the FIPK as a mod. I have 18'' wheels with 4 matching tires.

After 3 tranny shops, one gun being pulled, 2 cops to the scene, and a new neutral safety switch, I still have a broke tranny!

Has anyone had any similar experiences? I just missed Mike Troyer today to see if he could diagnose the problem and maybe cure it with a FTVB. I was told it could be a broken spring in the valve body. Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!!

Could be a broken 2-3 accumulator spring. In some performance tranny's we run them without the spring at all to firm it up a bit, but if you are expecting a soft shift, a broken spring might be your problem.

I don't see many broken 2-3 springs, but have seen alot of broken 1-2 springs that causes a very firm 1-2 shift (somewhat harsh)
