good 6 speed trany ????

im geting to geather a high hp moduler engine and im looking for a manual tranz that would hold up.im shooting for somewere around 450 horse and 550 torque .So for my best hope seems to be a t-56 out of a newer comaro/trans am for about 1000 bucks. think that would hold up ? or shood i hunt for something diffrent ? thanks steve T

5.0 mustang magazine did an acticle on swaping a t-5 for a viper t-56. the whole kit cost $2999. It is carbon fiber blocker rings on all of the gears. The article says that after 5 years of D&D performance selling they have had no reports of trannys breaking.

One thing to consider is that your truck is heavier than a Camaro or Mustang so when you drop the clutch it will be harder on the tranny. The ratings for the tremec T56 from the Camaro is about 400-450 ft/lbs. You will have to go to Chrysler to get a Viper T-56 and I am not sure it will fit. Check out these guys;
