Opinions on Tranny Temps

I just got back from towing a 24' TT up and over the cascade mountains. My tranny temp hit 250 at the summit for about 5-10 minutes, twice, going and coming, other than that it was around 200 through the mountains, and 170-180 on the flats. I have a 4.6l, 3.73, with auto trans, very large tranny cooler, superchip. The fluid is motorcraft synthetic with about 6000 miles on it. Is there reason for concern having hit that max temp? Should it be changed again? TIA

Don't worry; yes, 250 is high but it's not that high. Your fluid can take it, and it seems you change it regularly. If that is a regular trip for you, however, I'd think about getting a small fan for the cooler. The cooler can't work without airflow, and if you're moving slow over a mountain road with a large load, it doesn't get enough to keep the heat at bay.
