Trick Flow Trans Pan

Hey guys, Trick FLow has a trans pan that holds an extra quart of oil, drain plug, cooling fins, and great looks. It says for Ford AOD. I have heard this is the same as the 4R70W. Is this true? You guys think it would work on a 4X4?

According to Trickflow, part number TFS-1007 won't fit the AODE or the 4R70W. That sucks as I have the rear diff cover and it's great. I found this site on my search. Looks great and about the same price. www.yourcovers.com/newindex2.htm

Cool

The pan I received from B & M was labeled, on the box, as:

"Fits 4R70W & AODE. Will not fit AOD."

What do you do about the filter with a deep pan? Is there and extension for the pick up or something like that?

Filter

Most pan kits have an extension that fits over the filter neck. Although, wouldn't the fluid still contact the original neck if it holds an extra few quarts? The fluid level hould still be in the same place in the pan.

Yea. I guess the extension would be to ensure that the filter is submerged and you will always have a positive supply to be picked up. Think about it, if you didn't extend the filter into the pan and ran it a little low you could jeopardize how well it picks up fluid. Just a guess since auto transmissions are not my strong suit. I don't know jack about the internals of one or how it picks up fluid or anything else.

The extension keeps the filter mo better submerged and it also draws cooler fluid from the bottom too.

When I installed a B&M deep pan, It had a step in it that the filter would rest on.There was no extension for the filter. The pan holds three extra quarts of fluid.
