I can't get my truck out of park

I went in the store and i came back out to leave and i couldn't get my truck out of park.I had to crawl under the truck and undo the linkage and put it in gear while the e-brake was on,i also noticed that i didn't have ant brake lights,or turn singals.Plus my airbag light comes on and flashes, and the antilock light comes on now. Thanks in advance for any help.

brake switch fuse...

then the switch itself...then the wiring at the connection to the switch, look closely because the wire will break where the connection is crimped on....everything else is coming on because the contact in the column is still telling the ECM that its in park and your moving so it,s freeking out....disconnect the battery to reset and you should be fine

What Texford said. Check the wire going into the brake light switch. These wires break.

The release on the shifter is tied into the brake light switch. If you don't have brake lights it won't shift out of park.

If this happens again there is a way to get it out of park without crawling under the truck. Turn the key one detent forward. Not enough to turn the truck on. Then shift to neutral to start the truck.
