Angry transmission issues

thanks in advace for any info I have a 92 f150 with the 300 I6 engine and now has about 120.000 miles on it, shortly after i bought the truck about a year ago i began to have a vibration while accelerating. The shake seems to go away at higher speeds. My second problem (probably related) is that Im getting a check engine light flashing on when accelerating and engine rpms are high before transmision shifts. I got the codes from the computer and it gave me an egr valve and a torque converter slipping code. Has anyone had experience with a similar problem and if so what do you guys think the problem is. Im not looking forward to having to replace a torque converter.

thanks again

Matt
