Unhappy Can't fix it?!

Hey all,

I just got back from the speedometer place to have a new speedo gear installed. When I came back to pick up the truck, the guy said they don't make a gear small enough to fix my speedo. I don't have anything radical done to my truck, it's a 1998 with 4.56 gears and 33" tires...this doesn't seem right to me. I can't remember exactly what size I would need but I think it was 20 or 21 tooth, which he said they don't make. I originally had 3.55 gears and stock tires before the changes. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I know there are people with MUCH bigger tires and gears than me, so I would figure a gear would be available???

Thanks,
Chris

The largest gear from Ford is a 20 tooth gear and I think you will need taller then that. You can get a 23 tooth gear from Mustangs Unlimited here http://www.mustang-unl.com/ .
I have the 23 tooth with 430gears and 30.5 inch tires and it is still running the speedomete about 3-4% too fast. You may need to go with one of the electronic correction devices.
Read this post to see how LE PEW corrected his
http://198.65.157.241/forums/showthr...hreadid=100164 I may end up going for one of these myself.
Good luck, hope it works out for you...
