Question What the difference between reprogramm kit and shift kit

Hello All,

I put a Transgo shift kit in my F150 4X4 5.4 L about a month ago and it's like a new tranny. My shifts between 1-2 are great but the 2-3 and 3-4 are not has crisp. I have heard others who put in a reprogramming kit in say that they have real crisp shifts. I was wondering what the difference between the two kits are. Here is what my kit included.

Changing all springs in valve body

redrilling .06 holes to .09 holes

Adding a new popet valve.

Drill relief holes in the servo body.

Thats about all I did, would sure appreciate some help.

Steve

I could be wrong here but I believe it is just a matter of Symantics. Reprogramming the tranmission is what a shift kit does. If you're looking for more bang than the kit gives you put a Superchip on top of it. The Superchip raises line pressure and will make it shift even harder.

You can add a chip to raise line pressure, but you should also be able to drill out the holes for 2-3 and 3-4 a little more. It took me 3 tries to get mine right.
