Question Mike K. Re: 4R100

Hi Mike Re: 4R100 a/t

Would there be any build differences that you are aware of when its used in the 7.3 PSD and V10. Same model but heavier duty or just same a/t for each engine...5.4/V10/PSD?

Tks. for any info.

I think you mean me....

There are differences. The diesel is more heavy duty than the gas transmissions. The cases are different, too. The gas engines and diesel engines have different bolt patterns.

A V10 would only have 5 frictions in the reverse clutch, insteda of 6, 4 plates in the direct instead of 5 and has 4 gear reverse and forward planets in aluminum carriers instead of 6 in a cast iron carrier. And as Mark mentioned, the case bell pattern is different.

Thanks "Mark" and G

I was thinking there should be, particulary in the PSD.
Do you have any thoughts you can share on the new a/t 5sp. tq. shift VS the a/t used on the 7.3L PSD?

Thanks again...OT

The new TorqShift is really nice! It's stronger than the 4R100 used with the 7.3L. It has a lot of new features, too. There is quite a bit of discussion at TheDieselStop.com. Look here for everything you ever wanted to know:
