Drop hitch size

I have a Ford 2015 fx4 with p275r/55/20 tires...am wondering if a 5 1/4" hitch drop is about the right size for towing my bassboat....with a 3 1/4' drop hitch the boat will not load properly from the water...and I dont want to go to low...any help please?

Rick, welcome!

I don't know anything about towing boats, but couldn't you estimate the proper hitch drop by backing the truck up to the boat trailer on level ground? If you know what it should look like when you tow it and it is set up for proper water loading, I'd think you could estimate the hitch drop that way.

And I doubt there is a "correct" answer for your question, since it seems to me everything depends on the height of your trailer tongue and the height of your truck.
