Post Supercrew 5th Wheel Check this out

I posted this as well in the Supercrew section.
I own a Canadian made 31' Glendale trailer. I was checking their website for new products and found this.
We have had numerous discusions here and in the towing section on fifth wheels with supercrews so check out these new designs and the Supercrew picture.

The dry weight for the 24EX is 6,700 lbs!! Gross is 8,700 lbs. That's alot of weight to haul with a 1/2 ton. I know "they" say it will tow it, but you "can" install Windows 95 on a 486 computer with only 4 megs of ram too!!

If you can afford one of these, you can afford a Power Stroke Super Duty. That would be the minimum I'd use to haul such a beast. Very nice camper . I'd get one if I had the $$$$.

Oh I agree with you MitchF150 but when I saw it I thought of some of the folks here asking about 5th wheels on the Supercrew and here you go. Not only is the gross 8700lb but you also have the extra height of the 5th wheel. I never did look to see if Ford has a frontal spec for towing. This trailer could exceed it.
Also I would not be able to afford one of these. My well used 31 foot does fine and weighs 5600Lbs with a 7000Lb gross.
By the way the 24EX has a slide out as well.
Pretty big for a half ton tow vehicle.
I have had a lot of compliment on my Supercrew and a lot of heads turn to have a look so if your are addicted to that this may be the rig to make some heads turn as your roll into a campground.

Yes, those are very impressive rigs. I saw one that even had a functional fireplace in it!! (propane of course) Washer/Dryer hookups, etc. The showers in some of those are larger then the one in my house! But for retired folks that actually "live" in them most of the year, that would be the way to go for sure!

The picture posted above came from the Trailer Life magazine page 66 July 2001 issue. I do not know if anyone is towing this 5th Wheel with this truck, however if they are there is more than the weight of the trailer to consider. First would be, does this exceed the GVWR for the truck? Second does this exceed the GAWR for the truck? I believe that the GAWR is about 3500lbs. I tow a 30' 5 Wheel with my truck and I would not go any higher. I will say that it does like a dream with no problems at all. GVWR 13,100 GAWR 3300 and the max for my truck on the axel is 3500. There is no doubt that the 5.4L can handle the weight the question becomes can the frame hold up to it? Any ways just my 2 cents.

Found a dealer in Minn. closest to where I live in Iowa and the Titanium 24EX cost about $27,000 US dollars. I was surprised by the weight of the 5th whell at 6800 pounds (not loaded), I am not sure if this would be pushing my truck to hard. Anyone have any idea? 2001 F150 2X4 Supercrew 5.4
