will Prodigy need harness?

I have a cheapo brake controller and now with the heavier TT, it will not cut it. Since I have the tow package relay installed and a working brake controller connected the truck harness, do I need to buy any additional wiring harness with the new prodigy? Or will it connect right to the truck as the cheapo did?

Thanks

The harness that came with my first controller did not fit the Prodigy, so I doubt it'll fit yours... Besides, the Prodigy comes with one that'll just plug into your truck and the bc for only about $15... Get the one for your truck and that's all you need...

The harness that came with the truck can be wired to any brake controller ( all the wires required are on the pigtail ).

Click the image to open in full size.

If you can follow the color code of the wire on the pigtail to the brake controller, it will go right in.

The one that Prodigy sells is just the Ford pigtail connector on one side, and the brake controller on the other ( no solder / heat shrink work required ), it is nothing special aside from this.

I'm color blind so being able to buy the harness already made up would be a blessing. I'm seriously considering the P3. Even though it's overkill weightwise, I like the idea of being able to get a direct readout instead of looking up trouble codes.

Yeah, you can use the 'universal' harness that comes with the prodigy and then splice it into the harness you already have hooked up to the truck so that the ends all match up... As long as you know the colors of each one..

Jeannie,

Yeah, get the Prodigy and the wire harness specific to your truck and it's just a plug and play deal! I did that and it was a no brainer!
