HELP! Do I need a brake controler

I have a 1997 F-150 4wd ext cab. I just recently purchased a 6 x 10 cargo/motorcycle trailer with electric trailer brakes. I did notice that on my F-150 on the 7 prong plug in it says trailer brakes, but I am not getting any power to that prong. Do I need acontroler to make that work? I have heard from the guy I purchased the trailer from that I would not need one.

A good one is just over 100 bucks - Tekonsha Prodigy. Order it with the Ford-specific harness.

You also have to check that you have all the needed relays and fuses.
