Hello,
We are considering purchasing a 2010 F150 Supercab with 8 foot bed. 5.4L V8 163" wheelbase. Heavy duty Payload 8200# pkg and MAX tow pkg 11000#. Can I safely and comfortably pull a two horse gooseneck trailer that loaded would be around 6000# (horses plus trailer weight plus saddles, water, hay) and sometimes up to 8000# total weight. Nothing else would be in the truck bed except the gooseneck weight. Two people in the truck plus a dog! We live in a hilly area with mountains nearby and like to take the horses for trail riding. So sometimes we would be going up and down semi steep grades. We are interested in the 150 over the 250 because it has side curtain airbags and better gas mileage as we would drive the truck regularly and pull horses only on the weekends. Are we safe, and have plenty of power? We do not drive fast or hard. Thanks!
I bet it don't get better mileage when towing, so sounds like the jokes on you...
several people tow with '04-'08 F-150's and seem to love 'em, me personally I would not tow with a trailer that heavy with a 1/2 ton, it's one thing to hurt yourself and your truck/trailer, but there's other families on the roads and the horses have no choice...

The 6-spd auto helps a lot. The trailer weight should keep an F-150 under the 8200GVWR. go for it! It iwll get lots better FE when not towing, which I assume is many more miles than towing miles.

Seriously? You're no danger to anybody or the horses assuming you drive reasonably. You make it sound like it's just a matter of time before you lose control and kill a bus full of innocent children.
