my trailer weight question????

Ive been curious about this question...wondering what my trailer weighs?

its a 6.5x16 dual axle car trailer, on the title it says it weighs 600 and i just think thats impossible its hauled to much heavy duty stuff with no problems to be that light, its also classified as a homemade trailer (i dont think it is tho)

just thought maybe someone can help me figure it out

maybe im wrong

Post up some pics so people can get a good guess in.

I'd prolly guess it weighs somewhere around 1600-1700#'s minimum.

When you got it, did you buy it off of someone else or a dealer? The reason for it to be classified as homemade could possibly be: A. It is homemade B. A previous owner lost the orig title C. It could have been stolen and then registered as homemade by a previous owner D. ????

FWIW, last time I checked, the twin axle car trailers you can rent at Uhaul weigh around 2,300 lbs.

Hook it up and go out to a truck stop that has CAT scales. Weigh the rig, drop the trailer, then get a reweigh on just the truck. Should cost you about 10 bucks.

As to the VIN#, to get it registered by your state's Department of Motor Vehicles, there has to be some kind of VIN# on it.

So the home builder had to stamp it, or they may have used an existing # that was stamped onto the tongue when they bought the tongue.

Big difference between a U haul and the one he has I'm sure.

I'd say it could be 600 lbs depending on axle, if it's a flat bed with open center, how well built it is (IE 6" or 8" channel) etc.

Sure, it could be lighter built than the Uhaul trailer. But FWIW, a good tow dolly like you rent at Uhaul is 600 - 700 lbs by itself.

IMO, it's going to be pretty hard if not impossible to build a two axle trailer that can carry a car and have the trailer weigh only 600 lbs.

Two axle assemblies and the four wheels and tires alone could easily weigh over 600 lbs, without any framing or deck.

dirt is on track. There is no way a double axle anything weighs 600 pounds. My 6x12' single axle no brake angle iron landscape trailer weighs 1000 pounds. 2000-2500pounds is a fair estimate. But a CAT scale is best.

Not weird, accurate. Unlike your other trailer. I'd say the one has been scratched or rubbed off somehow. 1,600 lbs is more like it.
