Can I haul a 5th wheel with a 07 Super Crew 4X4

Everything I've read here & other places says no but I still have to ask.

I have a 2007 F-150 Super Crew XLT 4X4, 3.73 LS rear end, stock p255 / 70R17 tires, Trailer Tow Package, with a 6 1/2' bed. Stock no lift or after market work at all.

The weight rating's keep the legal 5th wheel to be towed rediculously small IMO, I would like a 27' 5th wheel but weight ratings won't allow it.

I know I need to have air bags installed, new tires with a higher load rating, a 5th wheel hitch installed, & a Electric Brake controller.

Do I need a sliding 5th wheel hitch with the 6 1/2' bed??

I would still need everything mentioned above except the 5th wheel hitch if I went with a bumper pull trailer.

Is it worth it to pay for the hitch just to tow a small 5th wheel, or should I just get a regular bumper pull trailer ???

Thanks Lee

If you want a 27 foot 5th wheel, trade your truck in for a Super Duty. You do not have the right tool for the job.

if it was me, id just get a bumper pull. they made some really light campers these days, was looking at a 22 footer and it weighed on 2100 pounds, now i dont know much about campers but that seems like to me. get yourself setup with bags, controller and a good hitch, you'll be fine.

You should have no problem with a bumper pull as long as you don't exceed any of the capacities. Factory hitch is good for 500# tongue or 5000# gross, you can go higher with a weight distribution setup on it. A 5th wheel will put you over GVWR real quick.

no one makes a fifth wheel hitch mount for a 4x4 f150. to do it properly you need a kit that wraps around the frame like the kit for a 2wd does.
