if i weld the hitch on my truck. (its stock and curently bolted on) will it increase its strenght?

Yes but, why?
The stock setup is sufficient for anything that you should tow with a 4.6L.
The place to increase strength would be under the hood.

It depends on your welding skills, but I'd leave it bolted on since really won'd do you much good on these 1/2 tons. Do it wrong, you can weaken the frame or not make a good seam that will be strong enough.

im just asking b/c on my dads f250 his hitch broke at one point after hitting a bump when pulling our dump trailer fully loaded (6,000lbs) and it got me thinking about my own and how i may improve it. but you are right. i may as well get a better one if im sirius about it and not risk weekening the frame at all.
