HTC One M8 Bluetooth control

I got a M8 yesterday. I hooked it up to Sync today. When I connect to Bluetooth, I can't skip to the next song using the steering wheel controls or the dash buttons. I could skip songs with my old phone, no problem.

Just to be sure the problem isn't the phone, I hooked it up to my wife's car radio. The song skip function on that radio worked fine so it's not likely a phone problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Dave -

I'm happy to look into this further. Which SYNC system do you have?

Is your wife's vehicle also a Ford? If so, which system is her vehicle equipped with?

Here's a breakdown of each one:

Talk to you soon.

HTC One M8 Sync Problem

I recently upgraded my phone to an HTC One M8 and while it will pair with Sync the phone book will not download. It says that there are zero entries added but my old phone had no issues. I have tried deleting the phone and re-pairing but same results. I can talk via sync when placing or receiving calls but nothing else works. Anyone able to help figure this would be greatly appreciated as once you get used to these functions they are hard to live without.

Thanks in advance.

I have SYNC with MyFord. My wife has a five year old Alpine unit.

I've had the chance to try the HTC One M8 in my '13 Boss 302 with MyFord. It does exactly the same thing as it does in the F-150. Sometimes when I hit the skip button, it sends the song skipping in fast forward mode. Most times, it does absolutely nothing.

I found another side to Sync. I cannot get the HTC One M8 to play when plugged into USB either. At first, it would not acknowledge the phone was plugged in. After a while, I got it to recognize the phone, then it told me that the was not authorized to play copyright protected content. When I asked to play a song, it went into some kind of sorting mode that lasted indefinitely. I never did get a song to play.

Ironically, I switched to the Android platform to take advantage of the Sync features that are not available on the iPhone. Now, HTC's flagship phone is a virtual brick in my truck. Actually, I haven't been able to get Sync to play from a thumb drive either, gives me the same copyright protection warning, then won't work.

I was hoping for some feedback or guidance from this thread. As far as I can tell, Sync just doesn't work.

I have the same issue, audio controls don't work with the M8.

I gave up. I gave the M8 to my kid and went back to my old iPhone 4.
