Sync Issues

about every 4 or 5 times i get in the truck the entire sync system has no power. no steering wheel controls (related to sync), will not choose auxiliary. click auxiliary and it immediately goes back to sirius or fm. USB ports have no power, etc.

anyone had this issue and fixed it?

Same issues, no fixes known. Head over to syncmyride.com and people with other models have the same issue. I had the same issues with my 2010 Mustang.

Yup, have the exact same problem and Im hoppin mad. paid 42k cash for the truck with the promise of hands free phone.....im wearing out the starter restarting the truck in the hopes that sync will follow along. Have demanded a new sync module and the dealer balks at this. contacted ford and they said try a different dealer....REALLLLLY?
they grabbed my damn check pretty quick, but seem rather disinterested now. Microsoft...what a joke

yep, i have found rarely if i hold down the auxillary button for 10-15 seconds it works. will be going into the shop over the christmas holidays while i have my second vehicle available to me.

the newest issue is now my steering wheel control button for previous/next song no longer works when using music off my phone.

pulled out my hard drive in hopes for some reason that was causing it but it's not looking like it.

Its almost a joke but this usually works:
First turn the truck off and remove the ignition key from the lock.
Second open your driver side door until sync hud turns off.
Finally restart the truck.

Of course dont do this if moving or in traffic.

doesn't work for me, i've tried that multiple times since the issue started.

the system is just poorly designed, Ford needs to fire the team who designed this crap.

I agree but.....
It was designed by ford, Microsoft, national insurance council and national highway and safety council.....too many cooks and not enough ingredients....

I used to have this happen.. Couple weeks ago i updated my SYNC software with a download to USB drive from syncmyride.com

**knock on wood** but I haven't had any issues since the update. It recognizes my voice much better now as well, no more unable to hear my issues etc.

Be careful with sync updates - be sure to read the directions and not pull the usb stick out until it's truly complete.

I "bricked" my sync by thinking it was done before it really was - dealer had to replace the sync module after this because they couldn't even revive it.

Anyway - it will say "update complete" within a few seconds of the process but it's really NOT done... you must wait for several "reboots" prior to pulling the stick out.

Sync updates have made mine work better - with the occasional need to pull the key and open the door. Usually, though, my phone isn't connected until I either push the phone button or connect to sync services.

There are bugs to work out... keep the pressure on Ford to get them all fixed.

Jon

mine does this sometimes as well. usually if i just hold the aux button it will eventually switch over.

another thing that has been happening recently is when i try to listen to pandora through the sync there is zero sound. the truck connects the phone and my phone will read "bluetooth audio device connected" but the noise never comes out of the speakers. pandora is playing the song but there is no noise through the truck speakers or the phone speakers. sometimes if i restart pandora and or turn the truck off and open the door and restart the truck it will play but sometimes even that doesn't work.

maybe i will just upgrade to a kenwood double din like i had in my 2005. never had any problems with it.

I have problems with bluetooth streaming - the playback "skips" every minute or so... doesn't matter if I'm streaming Pandora or playing mp3 files from my phone.

Fords default answer is to blame the phone - which now includes two Motorola Droids - I just bought a Droid Bionic... don't think it's the phone. I say it's not the phone because I use the bluetooth playback on an aftermarket radio and headset and it never skips.

Ford... fix your *****!

I have had the exact same problem. There really is not a fix...yet. I have pulled the fuse and even the battery cable to reset the whole thing. The tech support guys from sync are a crock. Dealer is worthless. I'm going to my dealer sometime this week and raising some hell. I want my money back that I paid for sync a system that works 15% of the time.

This fixed it for me - I haven't had one single time where sync was un-usable since this TSB was applied. Good luck!

TSB #11-10-22 for Sync reliability problems after vehicle start if USB devices are connected.

The TSB states that the Audio Control Module (ACM) must be reprogrammed to change power on sequencing if the customer states a concern with sync operation at startup.

The symptoms are - the sync system was not usable about 1 out of 5 times - requiring a shutdown of the vehicle and opening of the door until the Sync module (APIM) was de-powered and then powered on again... when I say not usable I mean that the voice button, aux buttons result in no voice prompt and the USB port is un-powered.

Took mine into the dealership, it's getting a new sync module according to my service advisor. Should have the truck back tomorrow or tuesday.
