Rancho 9000 Opinions??

I am getting the Rancho 9000 the (9 position switch) installed in a few days....wondering if anyone wanted to offer their opinions on what positions were better for Highway/In town driving, and for Off-Road driving?

Thanks

Nine positions? I thought the Ranchos only provide 1-5. I have the 9000's and love them. I did not opt for the remote switch; everyone that I know of has had linking problems.

I run my 9000's set at 4 in the front and 3 in the rear for general use, set at 2 in front and rear on long highway trips, and 5 in front and rear when I'm towing 6500# trailer and horses.

Hope this helps!

Similar to BruceScrew, I like to set both the front and rear shocks to position 1 for highway cruising on long trips, and position 5 for off-roading or when carrying a full load in the bed. For unloaded, everyday driving, I set the front and rear shocks to the 3 position.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies, what I am really looking for is people with the new Rancho 9000x which has a 9 position switch as compared to the 9000 and the 5 position switch...

Anyone out there have the NEW 9000x???

Thanks

I have the 'new' RS9000X's on the front, and the 'old' 9000's on the rear (long backorder ordeal), so maybe I can help you.

In talking w/ Rancho, basically they said that the 9000X's are like the 9000's but with 'in-between' adjustments. For example, the 9000X settings of 1-3-5-7-9 are roughly the same as the 9000's settings of 1-2-3-4-5. The 9000X settings of 2-4-6-8 are the in-between settings (i.e. 9000X setting of 6 is between 9000 settings 3 & 4). This should help you when comparing settings from those here who have the older model. I do like the additional adjustments, and in fact wish I had the 9000X's on the rear more so than up front.

Right now, I am running '6' on my 9000X's up front, and '3' on my 9000's in the rear - no body roll and a sporty, firm, but tolerable all-round ride.

You should enjoy your shocks! I would start out with '5' on both ends and go from there.

Thanks for the reply ChrisS....I just got mine installed the other day and I love them...much, much better than factory.

Sears set mine to #3 all the way around, I think I am going to go to at least 4 and maybe 5 for everyday driving.....

sagittarius, I got mine installed at Sears for under $300....I got a little bit of a deal because they originally ordered the wrong ones and quoted me the price of 69.99 per shock....they were actually $79.99 per shock so I got about a $40 savings.....

Sears is/was offering free install of Rancho shocks so I did not even have to mess with it myself...check into it, a great deal.

Hi wings_023,

Sounds like you got a good price. I got mine as part of a "buy 3 get 1 free" deal, but the fronts were on backorder so long that they filled the order with the new model. I wish I had the 9000X on the rear, because I think that a setting just between '2' and '3' on the 9000's would be perfect for me, which happens to be a setting of '4' on the 9000X's!

sagittarius :

Since the 9000X replaces the 9000, I think that the prices are very similar, if not the same.
